Spark School is dedicated to promoting global and cultural awareness. The Global Awareness experience in Spark School goes beyond the classroom, across international borders, into real life. Students are in charge of running their projects in the communities they belong to and share their work with their classmates.
What is Global Awareness?
Our vision is to provide a healthy environment for our students to become well-rounded individuals, curious to learn about world cultures, politics and global issues. We support and encourage students to build the necessary skills for living and thriving as global citizens in the 21st century.
Highlights
- 1 Each student will have a personalised learning journey in developing life-long skills and attitudes.
- 2 Learning happens primarily outside of the classroom with a guided immersion in real-life experiences.
- 3 The Global Awareness learning journey is acknowledged and celebrated through the badges system.

Why is global awareness important?
The Global Awareness experience challenges students to:
Expand their international perspective, becoming more open-minded toward cultural differences and better understand global issues
Become more self-aware, show responsibility and respect towards others and their choices
Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and cultivate their talents and inspire others
Have a positive attitude, show optimism, and understand their contribution to creating a better world.
Our Global Awareness Experience Framework
Each student’s Global Awareness journey is tailored according to their interests in the global society, such as cultural diversity, democratic processes, political and social engagement, environmentalism, and civil society needs. Each project includes a wide variety of real-life learning opportunities and interactions with experts.
How it works
Students will choose 2 or 3 of the IDEAS during an academic year and work on a global awareness project that develops their knowledge and builds meaningful skills in the area of choice.
IDEAS
The IDEAS are:
• Internationalism
• Democracy
• Environment
• Adventure
• Service
All the students working on the same IDEAS will have the chance to communicate, collaborate, and organise a challenging final event.
Badges
Each student’s Global Awareness journey and accomplishments will be recognised and awarded through the Badges system.
Students can earn a maximum of 9 Badges during the four years of High School that certify the knowledge, skills, and healthy behaviours they developed in the program.
Students will receive badges for activities, projects and skills they learn in the following Societies:
Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, and Service.
